BRUNSWICK, Maine — The UMPI Owls women’s cross country team traveled down south on Saturday, Oct. 26, for the Bowdoin College Invitational. The hosts, Bowdoin, along with Maine Maritime Academy and Roger Williams, competed in the 6K meet. Four of the five UMPI runners ran a personal best in the meet.
Shelby Shea (Fy. Springfield, ME) led the Owls with a 31st place finish in a time of 27:41 while also beating her previous personal best by a minute a 16 seconds. Followed closely was Kendra Silvers (Jr. North Berwick, ME) with a time of 27:46 and a 32nd place finish, knocking off 1:14 from her race just two weeks ago.
Jayde Whitten (Fy. St. Albans, ME) beats her personal best by almost two minutes, finishing with a time of 28:56 earning a 36th place. Annaset Jackson (Fy. Wilton, ME) finished in 38th and a time of 29:28, followed closely by Kaily Rich (Fy. Lebanon, ME), the Owls last scoring runner, finished in a time of 29:37. Jackson finished 1:39 better than her previous personal best, while Rich also knocked off two minutes and two seconds of her previous personal best.
The Owls head to the NAC Championships next on Saturday, Nov. 2, at Northern Vermont University-Lyndon.
