On Oct. 19, the Haystack Historical Society closed for the winter by hosting a stained-glass fundraiser.
Lisa Wark of “Glass with Class” conducted a workshop in which attendees made three stained-glass Christmas tree ornaments. Everyone who attended had a fun time working with the colorful glass and hot solder.
The Society thanked Wark and her team for making this an educational experience that was fun for all.

The Society also wishes to thank all the neighbors, friends and businesses who supported the work of the Haystack Historical Museum this past year. There were visitors to the museum throughout the late spring and summer. The Society had a successful homemade pie and homemade ice cream sale during Mapleton Daze, and on the first Friday in September held its annual baked ham dinner.

Funds raised from these events were used to cover the repair expenses of the museum schoolhouse. The back side of the museum was stabilized, with window and insulation repairs as well.
The society has already begun planning for the 2020 operation of the museum, including a spring event such as a mother-daughter tea with a special workshop mothers and daughters can do together. The Society looks forward to many visitors next year.
Fall yard and craft sale
Susan Maynard reminded everyone that this weekend is the Chapman Ridge Runners Snowmobile and ATV Club’s fall yard and craft sale. The sale will be at their clubhouse from 8:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. each day.
Maynard said item donations for the sale are still being solicited and asked that donors call her to let her know what the item donation will be. The donation of items assures the success of the sale. To contact her about donations, call 764-1236.
The landowner turkey supper is scheduled for Nov. 16, Saturday, at 6 p.m. The supper will be free to members who have paid their membership fees, and free to all landowners.
You must RSVP in order to attend. Call Maynard at 764-1236. Help is needed with food.
The club’s next board of directors’ meeting will be Wednesday, Nov. 13, at the clubhouse at 6:30 p.m.
Chicken pie supper
Mapleton is a town of wonderful community dinners. The next terrific meal coming will be this week, Saturday, Nov. 9, and will be the Mapleton United Methodist Church’s annual fall chicken pot pie supper. The meal will be served at 5 p.m.
No tickets for supper will be sold, as the church will be asking for donations which will be accepted at the door. All of the donations will go to the Homeless Services of Aroostook that operates the Sister Mary O’Donnell Emergency Homeless Shelter.
For those who cannot stay for supper, carry-outs will be available.
To make the evening more enjoyable, Castle hill’s favorite son, Wendell Hudson, will entertain following the meal. Everyone is invited for supper and a fun evening.
