OAKFIELD, Maine — A 17-year-old Oakfield girl was charged with criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon and five other offenses after allegedly leading authorities on a chase through the town on Nov. 20.
The Aroostook County Sheriff’s Office reported receiving a call at 4 p.m. on Wednesday regarding a girl who was acting “out of control” and wielding a knife. When deputies arrived at the scene, she allegedly took her family’s van and left the residence, according to a Nov. 22 press release from the agency.
The teen didn’t have a driver’s license, ASCO officials said, but continued to drive through Oakfield, ignoring the police sirens and lights following her. Authorities said a deputy attempted to stop the vehicle but the driver refused to pull over.
The teen returned to the residence, where law enforcement officers placed her under arrest and charged her with six separate offenses including domestic violence, criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon, failure to stop for a law enforcement officer, operating without a license, theft by unauthorized use of property, and passing a police roadblock.
Authorities took the suspect to Houlton Regional Hospital to be evaluated by medical personnel, and stated that she was later bailed by juvenile probation.
