Piano — Miss Grace Bouchard has resigned her position as piano player at Powers Theater and accepted a similar position with J.J. Hone in Presque Isle.
75 Years Ago – Nov. 30, 1944
Vaughn House — The Caribou Vaughn House yesterday became the property of a corporation of 45 stockholders, all citizens of the town, who purchased the hotel from Walter T. Day. The new owners, to be known as the Caribou Hotel Corporation, took possession of the business yesterday.
W.S. “Slim” Warman To Manage Caribou Office For Socony — William Warman has been promoted to the position of manager and agent of the Socony Vacuum Oil Company’s bulk plant at Caribou after twelve years of service with the company. Now in charge of the Caribou office and all motor oil products shipped to Northern Aroostook, Mr. Warman succeeds Mr. Chester Springer, who has been transferred to Bangor.
50 Years Ago – Dec. 3, 1969
Police, Firemen Ask For Candy, and Toys For Tots — Caribou Police and Fire Departments are issuing a call for help with their annual Christmas projects. The Police Department needs donations in order to not disappoint Caribou tots. Last Christmas the department store gave out 1,400 bags containing candy, popcorn, peanuts and fruit to the youngsters.
VFW, Teachers Teams To Clash — The Caribou Jaycees report a brisk advance ticket sale for their Donkey Basketball Show. Donkey basketball, regarded as one of the “craziest” of brainstorming attractions, features players performing on the back of donkeys. The donkeys for the show will be brought here by the Buckeye Donkey Company of Ohio. It will be the teachers vs the VFW team.

Blue Ribbon Team Visit — As we mentioned in our last column, Caribou Middle School has been chosen as one of five middle schools in the State of Maine to be considered for the National Nomination for the Blue Ribbon Award for Excellence among middle schools. We are quite excited about this honor as well as everyone should be. A lot of work and preparation has gone into the project as of now and we are not done yet.
Kmart Supports Booster Club — David George, manager of Kmart presented a check of $500.00 to Judy Bougie, a member of the Stockholm/New Sweden Booster Club, to help support extra-curricular activities for students from both communities.
