CARIBOU, Maine — The Caribou Viking girls varsity basketball team defeated Fort Kent on Dec. 11 with a 65-24 win and experienced the first loss of the season on Saturday in a game against the Winslow Black Raiders, a close game that ended in a 42-33 victory for Winslow.
During the Dec. 11 game against Fort Kent, Caribou Athletic Director Evan Graves said the girls were up 17-6 after the first quarter and never looked back.
Selena Savage scored the most points with a total of 15. Abbi Robbins scored a total of 10 and Taylor LaBreck and Paige Espling each had nine points, leading to the team’s 65-24 victory.
During Saturday’s game versus Winslow, the Viking girls were down by 17-7 after the first quarter, but came back and outscored Winslow for the next two quarters and were only down by three points by the end of the third quarter.
The Vikings late rally fell short as the team lost 42-33 to Winslow. Espling scored the most points during this game with 11, and Savage chipped in with eight points.
