Wildcats boys defeat Black Hawks

PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — Gage Letourneau became the second Presque Isle High School hockey player to score his 100th career point in the past month as the Wildcats rolled past Houlton-Hodgdon-Southern Aroostook-Katahdin, 10-3, on Tuesday. 

 

Letourneau scored his 100th career point midway through the first period when he notched an assist on a goal by Colby Carlisle. 

Connor Demerchant scored his 100th career point against Waterville/Winslow on Dec. 13.

“I’m very happy for Gage getting his 100th point,” Presque Isle coach Carl Flynn said. “He’s put in a lot of hard work to get to this point in his career.”

In addition, the coach added that fellow Wildcat Carlisle, who scored the goal which gave Letourneau his 100th point, is also just four points away from his 100th career point.

The Wildcats jumped to a quick 4-0 lead in the first period. Letourneau finished with three goals and four assists, while Carlisle had three goals and three assists. Demerchant tallied a goal and four assists, while Jonah Roy and Quinn Demerchant both had a goal and an assist. Colby Bonville had a solo goal for Presque Isle. 

Brandon Poitras and Gavin Faye shared the goaltending duties.

For the Black Hawks, Jason Colette and Noah Reynolds both scored a goal and had an assist. Nate Delucca also scored a goal. Elijah Matheson handled net duties for the Black Hawks.

Presque Isle held a 36-16 advantage in shots.

Presque Isle (6-2-1) is ranked sixth in the Class B North boys hockey standings, while the Black Hawks (1-7) are 12th.
