PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — The University of Maine at Presque Isle Owls women’s basketball team started their second semester with their second win on the year, bringing their record to 2-8 on the season as they beat Unity College 90-46. The Owls team finished with five players in double figures while every player contributed in their 44-point victory.
Hunter Mercier (sophomore, Fairfield) led the Owls with 18 points on 7-11 shooting and finishing with four threes on seven attempts. Taylor Miller (junior, Weeki Wachee, Florida) finished the game with 14 points shooting 7-10 from the field with five rebounds. Kylie Vining (freshman, Island Falls) was 6-11 from the field totaling 13 points. Sarah Musselman (sophomore, Turlock, California) and Alexis Levesque (senior, Grand Isle) both finished with 11 points each. Mariah Dunbar (freshman, Canaan) was everywhere on the floor as she finished with five points, seven rebounds and seven assists.
The Rams’ Marissa Sweeney led all scorers with 26 points on 9-13 shooting and going 5-7 from three. The Rams fell to a 3-7 record after the loss.
