BREWER, Maine — The Houlton Football team had its strongest showing since the program’s inception at the Little Ten Conference awards banquet last month.
Held Dec. 8 at Jeff’s Catering in Brewer, a whopping 15 Shire football players received accolades at the event.
“The Shiretowner football team had its best showing since the rebirth of the varsity program in 2014 with 15 football athletes being recognized for their accomplishments in the classroom and on the field of play,” coach Brian Reynolds said.
Noah Reynolds was recognized as the Houlton High School LTC Player of the Year nominee for leading all of Class D North in rushing with 1,086 yards, while scoring 10 touchdowns
Receiving awards for the All-Academic Team were: Will Belyea, Matthew Jimenez, Noah Reynolds, CJ Violette, Logan Tapley and Thomas Wilcox.
Named to the First-Team Offense were: Noah Reynolds, running back; Caleb Solomon, wide receiver. Named to the Second-Team Offense were: Jaron Brewer, guard; Kurtis Reynolds, center; Nolan Hodgkins, tight end; and Belyea, punter.
Receiving Honorable Mention on offense were: Belyea, utility back; Darrien Henderson, fullback; David Tucker, tackle.
Named to the First-Team Defense was: Kurtis Reynolds, nose guard. Named to the Second-Team Defense were: Tucker, tackle; and Justin Cook, linebacker. Receiving honorable mention were: Brewer, tackle; Jackson Morris, defensive end; Noah Reynolds, linebacker; Miguel Jimenez, linebacker; Solomon, defensive back; and Chris Caswell, defensive back.
