CARIBOU, Maine — Polls will be open for the primary election in Caribou from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 3, at the Wellness and Recreation Center.
While there are no questions on the ballot specific to Caribou, residents of both Caribou and Connor Township will be able to vote in the presidential primary and on one state referendum question.
President Donald Trump is running unopposed on the ballot in the Republican Party and while 12 Democratic party presidential candidates are listed on the ballot, Cory Booker, Deval Patrick and Andrew Yang have since dropped out of the race.
The state referendum question will give voters a chance to repeal a law that eliminates philosophical and religious exemptions as a reason for school-age and college students, as well as employees of nursery schools and healthcare facilities, to avoid vaccinations against communicable diseases.
A “yes” vote on this question would repeal the current law that eliminates religious and philosophical exemptions from vaccination requirements, and a “no” vote would leave the law as is.
