Limestone to interview town manager applicants later this month

LIMESTONE, Maine — Limestone officials recently heard an update from the Maine Municipal Association regarding the search for a new, permanent town manager during an executive session on Wednesday.

Since the legal executive session was not open to the public and nothing was decided in open session, town officials are not able to reveal many details at this point.

Interim Town Manager Vicki Page said on Thursday that since she is in the running for the position, she was not able to attend the executive session and cannot comment on the matter.

Page has served as the town’s interim manager since Aug. 16, 2019 and has continued to work as the town’s clerk, tax collector and treasurer. She was appointed after former Town Manager Elizabeth Dickerson left the area to move closer to family downstate.

Walt Elliott, chairman of the Limestone Selectboard, attended the meeting but is also not able to reveal many details. He said the application window has closed, that the town has received several applications and that interviews are planned for March 21.

“I feel pretty positive about some of the applicants we have,” said Elliott. “There are some very good candidates.”
