DeLucca named Houlton’s 2020 Principal Award recipient

HOULTON, Maine — Nate DeLucca of Houlton has been selected to receive the 2020 Principal’s Award for Houlton Middle-High School.

Principal Jim Hodgkin announced the selection March 2. The award, sponsored by the Maine Principals Association, is given in recognition of a high school senior’s academic achievement and citizenship.

“Nate has been a true model of involvement in school coupled with academic success and success in co-curricular and extracurricular offerings here at the school,” Hodgdkin said. “He has distinguished himself in the classroom, with student leadership, on the playing field and in the community.”

DeLucca, and other award winners from Maine schools, may attend an honors luncheon at Jeff’s Catering, 12:30 p.m., Saturday, April 4. Joining DeLucca will be Assistant Principal Tim Tweedie. 

The Honors Luncheon recognizes these outstanding students with the presentation of an MPA pin, individual plaque and the awarding of seven $1,000 scholarships in the names of for Maine principals and former MPA Executive Directors Horace O. McGown, Richard W. Tyler and Richard A. Durost. Three additional $1,000 scholarships will be presented through a partnership with Berlin City Auto Group’s Drive for Education.

The Principal’s Award is presented in more than 100 Maine public and private high schools by members of the MPA, the professional association which represents Maine’s school administrators.
