CARIBOU, Maine — Local law enforcement have closed down a portion of the Grimes Road due to minor flooding. The roadway is located along the Caribou and Fort Fairfield town line.
The National Weather Service in Caribou issued a flood advisory for minor flooding and poor drainage areas for an ice jam in east central Aroostook County at 3:40 a.m. on Monday. The advisory will remain until 3:45 p.m.
Grimes Road is not passable, and the NWS advised motorists to turn around when encountering any flooded roadways, adding that most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
