Improvement — J.E. Robinson Company has added a new and up-to-date street peanut and popcorn machine, which will be a great improvement over the one formerly used.
Attends meeting — S.L. White was in Portland last week to attend a meeting of the executive committee of the Maine Pharmaceutical Assn.
75 Years Ago – April 19, 1945
Nurses’ aides meet — Mrs. J. R. Harvey, chairman of the Nurses’ Aide Groups, has announced that members of the first class of Nurses’ Aides sponsored by the American Red Cross are having their first class instruction this evening at the Madigan Memorial Hospital. Another class for registered members will start next week at the Aroostook General Hospital.
On buying trip — Mrs. Emma Boone left Friday on a buying trip in the Boston and New York markets.
50 Years Ago – April 22, 1970
Anniversary — Mr. and Mrs. Leon Goodwin were entertained Friday evening by their son and daughter-in-law, Dr. and Mrs. Robert Goodwin, on their 50th wedding anniversary. They were married at Bath on April 17, 1920, by the Rev. Chester B. Oliver. Mr. Goodwin is a retired U.S. Customs officer.
Named director — Robert D. Hannigan, 46, of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, has been named director of safety for Artim Transportation System Inc., which operates trucking terminals in Indiana, Illinois, Ohio and Michigan. Mr. Hannigan, a native of Houlton, will operate out of the company’s East Chicago terminal and will have full responsibility for safety supervision of all Artim Transportation operations in the four-state area.

Receives award — Amy Quint of Hodgdon High School is the recipient of the MSSPA Principal’s Award presented by Principal Steve Fitzpatrick.
Best pie award — Wanda Brewer of Houlton took top honors in a 4egional apple pie baking contest the first week in April. Her trek to the Massachusetts competition began with pie entries in the July 4th festivities in town last year.
