HODGDON, Maine — Seth Ethan-Michael Tapley, a senior at Hodgdon Middle-High School, has been selected to receive the 2020 Principal’s Award. Principal Steve Fitzpatrick announced the selection Wednesday, April 15.

The award, sponsored by the Maine Principals’ Association, is given in recognition of a high school senior’s academic achievement and citizenship. Tapley is the  son of Wendy Toner and Douglas Tapley from Hodgdon.

“He is a consummate team-oriented individual and has focused on ‘teamwork’ as well as helping others succeed throughout his four years here at Hodgdon Middle-High School,” Fitzpatrick said. “Seth has distinguished himself in the classroom, on the playing field, and as a leader in the school and the community,” Principal Fitzpatrick  noted in making the award. “without question Seth is extremely deserving of this award and recognition.”

The Honors Luncheon to recognize those students around the state who received this award was unable to be held this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Tapley will receive an MPA pin, an individual plaque and is in the running for one of seven $1,000 scholarships in the names of former Maine principals and MPA Executive Directors: Horace O. McGowan, Richard W. Tyler, and Richard A. Durost. The MPA will  put the names of all of the students who would have attended and randomly draw names and will contact principals with the names of the winners.
