LIMESTONE, Maine — George “Bud” Finch will officially begin serving as Limestone’s new town manager on Monday.
The town has been searching for a permanent manager since former town manager Elizabeth Dickerson left on Aug. 16 of last year to move closer to her family. The select board then appointed town clerk Vicki Page to serve as the interim town manager.
Page continued to work as the clerk during this time, and the select board continued searching for a new manager. The board later voted on Nov. 20 to seek the Maine Municipal Association’s assistance in locating a new manager for the town.
On April 29, the board unanimously voted to hire Finch as the Limestone town manager.
Finch has spent the past year in Florida, but grew up in Eastport. He has experience in the public and private sector, including 15 years as Eastport city manager and more than eight years as the Harrison town manager in addition to working as a project engineer at Pratt & Whitney in East Hartford, Connecticut and North Berwick, according to a release.
Page has enjoyed her time as interim town manager and hopes to pursue a career as a town manager in the future, adding that she is nearly finished with a Bachelor’s degree in public administration, she said.
Page will continue to work as the town clerk once Finch officially begins.
