Help during crisis — In recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month, Aroostook Mental Health Center will participate with Cary Medical Center’s Healthy You program on a variety of Community Chat conversations to help people struggling with COVID-19. Lodging update — The Mills Administration announced on May 14 that Maine lodging providers can now begin accepting future reservations for stays with an arrival date of June 1 and beyond for Maine residents and for non-residents who comply with the state’s 14-day quarantine requirement.
Youth novena — The Diocese of Portland’s Office of Lifelong Faith Formation will hold a novena for young adults Friday, May 22, through Saturday, May 30. Register online at www.portlanddiocese.org/content/novena-young-adults.
Memorial Day service — Memorial Day Mass will be live-streamed at 9 a.m. on Monday, May 25, with Bishop Robert Deeley. All are welcome to participate from home via livestream facebook.com/PortlandCathedral or portlandiocese.org/online-Mass.
Food webinars — The University of Maine Cooperative Extension will launch a food preservation webinar series at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, May 26. “Preserving the Maine Harvest” begins with freezing fiddleheads and making refrigerator spring pickles. The 45-minute sessions will continue through October, and include discussion and demonstration. A $5 donation is suggested for each session but not required. Relay for Life — Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Relay For Life has canceled live events that usually happen in June across Maine, New Hampshire and Massachusetts. But that’s not the end of the story: Aroostook Relay for Life will join many other groups on Sunday, June 7, in a virtual Relay for Life experience called Hope From Home. The online event will feature a mix of live and pre-recorded segments, plus prompts to post comments, photos and videos.
