CARIBOU, Maine — Caribou Police arrested three on Thursday in connection with Monday’s burglary of a local business, according to Caribou Police Chief Michael Gahagan.
Police received a call from the business owner on Monday indicating that their building was broken into and that construction equipment was stolen. The department received surveillance video and posted images of two individuals on their social media page, seeking the public’s assistance in identifying them.
In less than a week, Gahagan wrote that tips came in regarding the pair’s identity and the police arrested Trevor Ellis, 23, of Caribou and Joshua Ellis, 24, of Caribou for Class C burglary and theft.
Joshua Ellis, who was out on bail at the time of the incident, was also charged with violation of conditional release and was held without bail. Trevor Ellis’ bail was set at $10,000 cash or $25,000 single surety. Both have been transported to Aroostook County Jail and are scheduled for an Aug. 6 court date.
As part of the investigation, which was led by Officer Aaron Marquis with assistance from Sgt. Keith Ouellette and Officer Gerard LeMoine, officers obtained a search warrant for an Access Highway residence, where all allegedly stolen items were recovered.
Caribou police were assisted by the Aroostook County Sheriff’s Office and the Maine State Police. In addition to recovering items stolen from the local business, police recovered a separately reported stolen motorcycle, cash, drugs and several firearms.
Officers then arrested James King, 50, of Caribou at the residence on an outstanding warrant and charged him with being a felon in possession of a firearm, receiving stolen property and possession of methamphetamine.
King was released on $5,250 cash bail and is also scheduled for an Aug. 6 court appearance.
