Again the Covid-19 pandemic continues to interfere with our fun summertime activities. The 2020 Crown of Maine Balloon Fest Committee is planning a special modified Balloon Fest weekend, which will be sponsored by many businesses and organizations including the Mapleton Lions Club.
On Friday, Aug. 28, there are plans for a hotdog cookout and movie night with the Presque Isle Police Department at the Nordic Heritage Center. The committee will team with PIPD to host “The Wizard of Oz.” This will be a blanket/lawn chair event with designated seating areas for attendees that will be pre-marked. The event will be free to the public.
On Saturday, Aug. 29, from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., the Presque Isle Farmer’s Market will be open at the Riverside Pavilion on Riverside Drive in Presque Isle.
Following the market, a food court will open at 4 p.m. at the Nordic Heritage Center. They will sell food and other concessions in advance of, and during a Star City Syndicate performance, which is scheduled from 6 to 9 p.m. Attendees will be asked to stay within their designated parking area and/or sit in the lawn seating at their own risk, but still maintain social distancing guidelines.
Watch for more information about the weekend as these and additional activities are confirmed and scheduled. As always, Crown of Maine Balloon Fest events are open and free to the public.
