PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — The County Federal Credit Union recently awarded $1,000 scholarships to 15 graduating seniors within its field of membership.
Presentations were made individually to the following recipients.
Shelby Barnes graduated from Caribou High School and will attend Northern Maine Community College for emergency medical services/paramedicine.
Makaila Beck graduated from Fort Fairfield High School and will attend the University of Maine at Presque Isle for liberal arts.
William Belyea graduated from Houlton High School and will attend the University of New England for medical biology.
Jacob Bonville graduated from Presque Isle High School and will attend Cedarville University for sports medicine.
Ethan Cassidy graduated from Presque Isle High School and will attend the University of Maine in Orono for mechanical engineering.
Maggie Castonguay graduated from Presque Isle High School and will attend Husson University for physical therapy.
Connor Demerchant graduated from Presque Isle High School and will attend the University of New England for biology.
Megan Gardiner graduated from Presque Isle High School and will attend the University of Maine Presque Isle with an undeclared major.
Gavin Hemphill graduated from Presque Isle High School and will attend the University of Maine Orono for mechanical engineering.
Sara Howland graduated from Houlton High School and will attend the University of Maine Orono for political science.
Grace Johnson graduated from Houlton High School and will attend Thomas College for international business.
Colby Langner graduated from Fort Fairfield High School and will attend the University of Maine Farmington for Pre-Med Program
Elizabeth Nadeau graduated from Presque Isle High School and will attend the University of Maine Presque Isle for Nursing
Rebecca Rider graduated from Presque Isle High School and will attend the University of Maine Orono for nursing.
Dawson Watson graduated from Fort Fairfield High School and will attend the University of Maine Presque Isle for business.
For 2020, CFCU awarded scholarships to an unprecedented 15 members. The board of directors felt , due to the pandemic and the missed opportunities the class of 2020 experienced, that it was important to provide students the help and award scholarships to all who applied.
The credit union philosophy of “people helping people” is alive and well at the credit union who, over the past 23 years, has awarded more than $122,000 in scholarship money to local students.
