Boat – – W.L. Oak and Fred Ladau have purchased a naphtha launch for use on the Aroostook River. The boat was made in Old Town. Twenty feet in length, it can carry six to eight people.
100 Years Ago – Aug. 12, 1920
Future lawyer — Irvine Peterson has gone to Augusta to take the Maine Bar Association examinations.
75 Years Ago – Aug. 9, 1945
Martin Clothing Co. to open in Caribou — George V. Brown and Edward G. Martin, both local businessmen, have leased the Carroll Cut Rate Store and have plans to open a clothing and shoe store for men and boys.
50 Years Ago – Aug. 12, 1970
Limestone boy is runner-up — Gerald (Jerry) Davis, 16, pianist, of Grand Falls Road, Limestone, was chosen by the faculty and students as runner-up in the outstanding musician competition at the close of the Eastern Musical Festival in Greensboro, North Carolina. Carl Roskott, 17, took first place.
USO sponsors fund campaign — A special fundraising campaign to help pay for the cost of remodeling and furnishing the new USO Center on Washburn Avenue has been initiated, according to Fred C. Bennett, general campaign chairman. The new building, as described by the committee, greets visitors with a spacious lounge decorated with an ultramodern, bold canvas.

Caribou Cares — The Caribou Chamber of Commerce is proud to present an addition to the Caribou Cares about Kids Celebration, The County Kids Talent Show. The show will be one of the kickoff events for the Caribou Cares festivities. Caribou Cares About Kids is in its fifth year.
Department pride — The Caribou Fire and Ambulance Department participated in the recent parade in New Sweden that celebrated the arrival of the first Swedish colonists to the community 125 years ago. The department drove their 1922 American LaFrance fire truck in the event.
