CARIBOU, Maine — Caribou police arrested Veronica Lopez, 29, of Caribou after receiving information that a vehicle stolen from Presque Isle may be at a Caribou residence, according to Caribou Police Chief Michael Gahagan on Aug. 6.
Police said that dispatch received information on Aug. 3 that the vehicle may be on Washburn Street in Caribou. Sgt. Chad Cochran then found the vehicle, a black 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer, and conducted a traffic stop as it pulled into an apartment complex.
Police arrested Lopez and charged her with Class C theft, Class D unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, Class E attaching false plates and Class D operating a motor vehicle after license revocation.
Officers also charged her with possession of ritalin (Class C), lysergic acid (Class D), heroin (Class C), fentanyl (Class C), and methamphetamine (Class C).
Sgt. Cochran was assisted on the scene by Caribou Police Officer Amanda Baker and Deputy Jesse Belanger of the Aroostook County Sheriff’s Department.
Bail was set at $5,000 cash and $20,000 single surety. Lopez has since been released and is scheduled for an Oct. 1 court date.
