Moving on — Carl C. Gray, who for a number of years has been prescription clerk at the Hatheway Drug Co., has resigned and accepted a fine position with the Sturtevant Manufacturing Co. of Boston, planning to take up his new duties early in September.
Attending reunion — Col. Frank M. Hume, Major E.A. Hosford, Sgt. Boutlier and Maurice Buzzell went to Sherman Mills Thursday where they attended the reunion of World War veterans.
75 Years Ago – Aug. 23, 1945
Silver wedding anniversary — 150 friends of Mr. and Mrs. Willard Hovey gathered Saturday evening in honor of their silver wedding anniversary at their home, which was decorated with beautiful floral arrangements by Mrs. Bert Wise.
Attends meeting — Dr. and Mrs. P. L. B. Ebbett attended the Aroostook County Medical Association meeting held Thursday at Dr. Francois Faucher’s cottage at Long Lake in Sinclair.
50 Years Ago – Aug. 26, 1970
Honored on anniversary — Mr. and Mrs. J. Willard Hovey were honored on their 50th wedding anniversary at the Parkview Terrace at a party given by their children Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Hovey and Mr. and Mrs. Davis Wiggin.
Genial host — Frank Peltier, president of the Lumberman’s Museum in Patten, dished out cole slaw in the serving line as the museum held its annual bean-hole bean supper. A record crowd was attracted to the supper in near perfect weather.
25 Years Ago – Aug. 23, 1995
Hop-A-Thon kids — The Kid’s Academy Nursery School in Houlton earned $1,805 during the school’s annual hop-a-thon held earlier in the year for the Muscular Dystrophy Association of Maine. Those collecting $75 or more for the cause included Jessica Guy, Zara-Anne Farrar, Kaila Fletcher, Emily McGary, Ashley Levesque, Casey Malone, Haley Nickerson, Briady Dow, Katie Duff and Devin Faulkner. McGary, Malone and Dow will appear on WABI-TV during the MDA telethon during Labor Day weekend.
Fingerprinting for safety — Paul Adams of the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Department fingerprinted area youngsters during Back to Nature Day. The A.E. Howell Conservation Center and Spruce Acres Refuge held its annual event Saturday in Amity.
