PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — A fire stemming from maintenance work on a four-wheeler burned down a home on Echo Lake Road on Friday, the homeowner said.
The fire occurred at 8 E Echo Lake Road. Iris Brown, who owned the property, said a family member was working on a four-wheeler when it caught fire on Friday night.
Brown watched firefighters fight the flames from a nearby home that she also owned. She said the property looked to be a total loss.
“It’s gone,” Brown said. “And it’s not insured. Maybe the garage, but not the house.”
Dozens of firefighters were spotted at the scene fighting the flames. Most were from the Presque Isle Fire Department, though an Easton Fire truck was also present.
The fire occurred during an armed standoff on Main Street in Presque Isle. Fire trucks with sirens blaring could be seen speeding near that scene toward Echo Lake Road.
There were no injuries reported from the fire.
