To the editor:
Upon receiving the notice from the Presque Isle Utilities District I begin to wonder, how we will keep our heads above water?
We received our water/sewer bill in August to find that use of 1,200 cufic feet of water has increased by 16.52 percent, or $23.18, for the same amount used in the billing cycle for November 2019 — already a sizable increase. It is nice for the notice of only 9 percent. We somehow used the same amount of cubic feet of water for the billing cycle ending in November 2019 as we did for the billing cycle ending in August 2020.
The PIUD could have saved the expense of forming this notice, using both sides of paper and postage, as there is already going to be a 9 percent increase in the current rates. Why the meeting on Oct. 13, 2020? Just raise the rates. We will continue to swim just a little harder to keep our heads above the water and out of the sewer.
