VASSALBORO, Maine — The Houlton golf team placed sixth in the state Class C competition at the Natanis Golf Course Saturday. The Shires tallied a 378 team score on the day.
Orono was the top squad on the day, finishing with a 345, followed by St. Dominics at 351.
This year, the individual meet was held concurrently with the team competition. Houlton’s Collin Moody finished third in the individual competition with a 78, which qualified him for the New England event, tentatively scheduled for next summer.
Other scores for Houlton golfers were: Garrett Harvey, tied for 13th with an 86; Kolin Irish, tied for 32nd with a 105. In the Girls Class C Individuals, Madelyn Quirk, and Alyssa Nightingale, both tied for sixth, shooting 110. This is the first year that the girls championship was divided into different classes.
