To the Editor:
As a registered Independent, I vote according to whom I feel is the best candidate and not the political party. This my personal experience with Susan Collins and her staff.
My daughter has a medical condition that will require her to have significant medical procedures/surgery in the future that will not be covered by insurance. The cost is astronomical.
My daughter wrote Senator Collins asking her to co-sponsor the ELSA Act, which would force insurance companies to cover such conditions like my daughter’s and she agreed. Senator Collins and her staff did not stop there. They made a connection with a medical group that will greatly assist us when the time for surgery arrives.
We are not people of wealth, so we can make no monetary contributions to Senator Collins, nor do we have an influential name to help her. She did all of this for one child because she is a decent person and is trying to fight insurance companies despite what negative ads may say. Senator Collins is a leader who truly cares about the people.
