A single-vehicle crash in Castle Hill on Saturday was the second within a week on the same road in which icy roads were deemed a contributing factor.
Dino Dinatale, 58, of Caribou was driving his 1999 Dodge Durango on the State Road around 11:41 p.m. when he lost control of the vehicle while turning a corner. The vehicle slid off the road and struck a utility pole. Dinatale was taken to Northern Light A.R. Gould Hospital in Presque Isle for non-fatal injuries.
Icy roads contributed to the crash, the Maine State Police said. The State Road was closed for a short time as fire departments from Presque Isle, Mapleton and Castle Hill responded to the scene.
The Saturday night crash was the second on the same road state police responded to in the past week. On Thanksgiving Day, speed and icy road conditions were attributed to another single-vehicle rollover. Both the driver and passenger escaped after the vehicle came to a stop upside down in Demerchant Brook.
