FORT FAIRFIELD, Maine — The Fort Fairfield Lions Club has canceled its 43rd annual auction, which was scheduled this month, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The economic impact from the virus has put a strain on local businesses and organizations that in past years have donated goods or services to the auction, said Jeff Murchison, auction chairman. Additionally, the club does not have enough room to maintain proper social distancing requirements to conduct the auction.
“Although it will put financial restrictions on our club’s ability to support some charitable causes in our area, it is in the best interest of the health of our local communities,” Murchison said.
Any organization or individual who would like to donate to the Fort Fairfield Lions Club may do so by mailing a donation to P.O. Box 583, Fort Fairfield, Maine 04742, or contact any Lions member.
