BRIDGEWATER, Maine — A Bangor man will likely face criminal charges after being arrested for operating his vehicle under the influence on Saturday, according to the Maine State Police.
James Seeley, 42, of Bangor was driving north in his 2017 Kia Sedan on U.S. Highway 1 in Bridgewater when he struck the rear of a 2006 Hyundai Sedan driven by William Fagundes, 55, of Van Buren. The impact caused Fagundes’ vehicle to spin 180 degrees before coming to a stop on the shoulder of the road.
Maine State Police became aware that Seeley was speeding in a 30 miles per hour zone after receiving a complaint about a dark-colored vehicle that was not dimming its headlights for incoming traffic. After Fagundes’ vehicle was struck, Seeley’s vehicle crossed the centerline and came to a stop in the left ditch.
Both vehicles had “extensive damage” and were towed from the scene of the crash, but neither driver was injured.
State Police have deemed speed as a factor in the crash and said that Seeley was arrested and brought to the Aroostook County Jail in Houlton, where he remains in custody pending his ability to post bail. Officials noted that they expect Seeley to receive other criminal charges.
