FORT FAIRFIELD, Maine — After transitioning to remote learning this week, SAD 20 students will return to in-person instruction on Monday, Jan. 11.
In a letter addressed to the district, Doak said that Fort Fairfield schools will return to a green model but use Wednesdays as remote learning days. The decision came nearly a week after people in the district began quarantining after coming into contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19.
Doak urged parents to ensure their children and other family members wear masks and maintain social distancing in public, wash their hands, avoid large gatherings and crowds and stay home if they become sick.
“We recommend that you act to help limit the spread of COVID-19, even if your child is not experiencing symptoms,” Doak said.
The news from SAD 20 comes at a time when several schools in central Aroostook have dealt with quick changes to their instruction in the new year. After returning to in-person learning on Jan. 4, SAD 42 in Mars Hill has shifted to remote learning until at least Jan. 19. Two people in the district are said to have tested positive for COVID-19.
Washburn schools have opted for a hybrid learning model due to increasing case numbers in Aroostook County, though there are no confirmed cases in that district.
