MARS HILL, Maine — High school skiers from four schools competed in the first slalom event of the year Wednesday, Jan. 13, at Big Rock Mountain.
Squads from Caribou, Presque Isle, Fort Fairfield and Greenville participated in the event, which featured two separate slalom races. That meant local skiers were able to get in four runs down the mountain.
Eliott Sleeper of Caribou was the top skier in both boys races with a combined time of 51.83 seconds in the first event and 51.36 in the second race. Edie Shea was the top girls skier with a combined time of 55.97 and 56.22 on the day.
The remaining Caribou boys results were: PJ Thorton, 53.29 and 53.29; Carter Belanger, 55.28 and 55.20; Jaden Picard, 55.33 and 54.32; Tanner Prashaw, 55.41 and 55.04; Jude Shea, 57.64 and 55.27; Devon Ouellette, 58.44 and 56.13; Alex Picard, 59.23 and 58.13; Calvin Hersey, 1:00.21 and 1:00.35; Jack Doody, 1:00.86 and 59.99; Nicholas Morningstar, 1:00.92 and 1:01.42; and Keith Bray, 1:05.36 and 53.43.
The Presque Isle boys results were: Clay Gregg, 56.17 and 55.70; Ryder Wight, 56.73 and 56.56; and Nicholas Wight, 1:13.51 and 1:09.13.
Fort Fairfield’s Josh Schupbach finished with combined times of 1:01.79 and 58.66.
The Caribou girls results were: Macy Wakem, 1:00.95 and 1:00.41; Ella Voisine, 1:01.26 and 1:00.92; Araya Caverhill, 1:02.22 and 1:01.90; and Kerigan Guerrette, 1:02.78 and 1:02.58.
The individual Presque Isle girls results were Izzy Higgins, 58.65 and 57.21; Camden York, 1:05.46 and 1:02.30; Violet Gregg, 1:07.86 and 1:06.18; Allison Sweetser, 1:08.41 and 1:08.88; and Emily Bemis, 1:14.36 and 1:13.30.
