BANGOR, Maine — A Presque Isle man pleaded guilty Monday in federal court to conspiring to distribute and possess with intent to distribute methamphetamine.
Kaleb Dahlgren, 32, and co-conspirators obtained methamphetamine in western and southern states from Mexican sources, according to court records. They then, then distributed the drugs in Aroostook County, as well as parts of central and northern Maine, U.S. Attorney Halsey B. Frank said.
Dahlgren reportedly made at least one trip to Mexico and Arizona with co-conspirators to obtain methamphetamine and transport it back to Maine.
Dahlgren will be sentenced after the U.S. Probation office completes a presentence investigation report. He faces up to 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $1 million, as well as supervised release of between three years and life.
The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, Homeland Security investigations and the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency investigated this case, aided by state and local law enforcement agencies.
The prosecution is a result of the ongoing efforts by the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force program, which works with federal, state and local law enforcement to identify, investigate and prosecute high-level members of drug trafficking enterprises.
Dahlgren has a previous criminal record including a 2018 indictment on charges of domestic violence assault, domestic violence criminal threatening, criminal restraint, theft, domestic violence terrorizing, and domestic violence assault. He had previously been convicted of domestic violence assault in 2012.
