AUGUSTA, Maine — Representative Dustin White, R-Mars Hill has been re-appointed to serve on the Legislature’s Transportation Committee.
Reached for comment this week, Rep. White is looking forward to continuing as a member of the 13-person legislative panel. “I have learned a lot from serving on this committee in past sessions, and believe strongly that it is one of the most important committees in the Legislature — especially for Aroostook County. Transportation continues to impact our struggling economy in ways that cannot be underestimated.”
This committee faces an ambitious workload this session including the review of legislative proposals relating to the Department of Transportation; Bureau of Motor Vehicles; motor vehicle registration and license plates; drivers’ licenses; driver education; Maine Turnpike Authority; Highway Fund; transportation policy; public transportation; aeronautics; highway and bridge construction and maintenance; highway safety; traffic regulation; waterways; railroads; Department of Public Safety, State Police; and motor vehicles and motor carriers.
COVID-19 will impact the way members of the 13-person committee will interact with the public. Hearings and work sessions will be conducted virtually by zoom for the foreseeable future. Rep. White continued “as I begin my fourth term in the Legislature I am reminded of how important it is to hear from our constituents. There are plenty of bills this session that are good ideas, and I hope to hear from residents in my district with their thoughts and opinions this session.”

Rep. White is serving House District 146, which includes Blaine, Castle Hill, Chapman, Mapleton, Mars Hill, Perham, Wade, Washburn, Westfield and Woodland.
