CARIBOU, Maine — A 42-year-old Bowdoinham man who created a nine-hour standoff with police in Presque Isle in September, was among 65 indictments handed up for judge review for the month of October by the Aroostook County Grand Jury.
Corey Alexander was indicted on counts of burglary, domestic violence terrorizing, creating a police standoff, violating conditions of release (2 counts) and refusing to submit to arrest.
The nine-hour standoff started after Alexander showed a knife to officers as they attempted to arrest him at an apartment complex behind McDonald’s on Main Street in Presque Isle on a charge of domestic violence.
According to police reports, Alexander made several threats toward law enforcement officers before they arrived, and said he would leave the apartment “in a body bag” if they tried to arrest him,
Alexander eventually surrendered peacefully at around 9:30 p.m. after extensive negotiations with police.
An indictment is not a finding of guilt, but an indication that there is enough evidence in a case to move forward with a trial.
