HOULTON, Maine — Houlton Middle-High School principal Tim Tweedie has announced that Isabel Cyr, a senior at the school, has been named the recipient of the 2021 Principal’s Award.
The criteria for this award are academic excellence, outstanding school citizenship, and leadership.
“Isabel fits all the criteria for this MPA Principal’s Award, without exception,” Tweedie said. “She is an excellent ambassador for our school. She is an outstanding student, is very kind to everyone, and participates in a significant number of our co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. She has distinguished herself for her leadership skills, integrity, and work ethic.”
Cyr is a member of the Houlton High School Chapter of the National Honor Society, was recently named the First Honor Essayist for the Houlton High School Class of 2021, has successfully taken six AP courses, has earned the Seal of Biliteracy in Spanish, has earned several academic distinctions, has participated in several high school musicals and one-act plays, is a member of the school’s civil right’s team, and has volunteered at the Putnam House and Cary Library.
Cyr and other award school winners will be presented an individual plaque and will have the opportunity to be awarded one of ten $1,000 scholarships at a Virtual Scholarship Drawing Event on Friday, May 14, at 1:00 p.m.
The Principal’s Award is presented in more than 100 Maine public and private high schools by member principals of the MPA, the professional association which represents Maine’s school administrators.
Cyr is the daughter of Joseph and Charity Cyr of Houlton.
