CARIBOU, Maine — Caribou City Manager Dennis Marker announced in a letter to the city council that he will be resigning on July 5 of this year.
In his resignation letter, which was included in the March 15 council packet, Marker wrote that his intention for writing a notice months in advance was to provide the city enough time to hire and transition into a new city manager.
He will have been the city manager for four years on July 3.
Until then, Marker said he would continue to serve faithfully and in the best interest of the city.
The March 15 meeting packet included an item to add $15,000 to the general government miscellaneous account in order to have money available to help with hiring a new city manager. The council ultimately voted to accept the 2021 municipal budget, which included this addition, during the meeting.
“Know that I and my family have truly been blessed by the opportunity you’ve given us to be part of the Caribou connection,” the city manager wrote.
“You welcomed us with smiles, handshakes [before COVID], love and memories that will last a lifetime. Thank you for the sports, the songs, tumbling, sledding, lakes, rivers, wildlife, scenery, and your friendships. May God’s choicest blessings be poured upon you.”
