Going forth for gum — W.L. Sylvester, who has been on a gumming expedition to Goddard Town, returned to Perham last Monday. He brought enough gum to keep everyone chewing.

Limestone opts for new municipal building — Limestone residents voted Monday to construct a new municipal building at a cost of $50,000. The town’s total budget for the year is $113,826.15

Legislators to mark Potato Day — Observance of Maine Potato Day in the State Legislature March 25 will highlight the 16th Annual Maine Potato Week this year scheduled for March 17-27, Maine Department of Agriculture Maynard C. Dolloff has announced.
Girl Scouts mark birthday — Approximately 200 attended the Girl Scouts birthday party in observance of National Girl Scout Week at the Melody Roller Rink in Caribou.

Sewer district receives DEP award — The Limestone Sewer District was recently recognized by the New England Region of the DEP for its commitment to clean waste water through outstanding operation and maintenance. The facility was selected out of 300 small secondary treatment plants by the DEP.
School wins national magazine contest — Caribou High School has been selected a winner in Redbook’s Magazine’s America’s Best School Projects, and named Best in the State. School staff members involved with the project that has received national recognition were Principal David Ouellette, Dottie Smith, Jim Carter and Arthur Brenner assistant Superintendent of Schools. Also there was Mary Gallant, Lynn McNeal, Frank EcElwain, Jim Martin, Mike McCormack and Mike Gardiner.
