EASTON, Maine — Thirty-nine residents attended Easton’s annual town meeting last week in the elementary school gymnasium. And Town Clerk Cheryl Clark was prepared to accommodate more while still following COVID-19 guidelines.
“We had a maximum capacity of 50 people in the gymnasium,” she said, adding that they had the cafeteria ready for overflow. “We had the chairs spaced six feet apart, everyone wore masks and we had hand sanitizer.”
The town warrants and budget were passed without objection in the elementary school, and town voting was by secret ballot in the Odd Fellows Hall.
Two new candidates — Tammy Beaulier-Fuller and Norman Trask — were elected to the Board of Selectmen, replacing Mike Corey, who retired and moved to Presque Isle, and incumbent Paul Dudley, who was unseated.
Incumbent School Board member David Hopkins was reelected. Chantal Pelletier was also elected to the school board, replacing Jen Morin.
The municipal budget of $1,463,696, an increase of 10 percent over last year, was approved and all warrants passed without contest.
