Some good news to share is the fact that we will be set up at the spring Trash & Treasure Show at The Forum on May 1 and 2. It has been well over a year since we have been able to do any fundraisers for the Central Aroostook Humane Society.
We will be set up just inside the front entrance with some new merchandise to sell. Our popular pet treats and even some yummy “human treats” will also be available. We will be following all the proper safety protocols and ask everyone to wear a mask when attending. We hope that many folks will stop by to chat, and brag about your furry little family member.
Our next event is our popular Paws for the Cause Walk. Watch for the date in future articles. We will have the pledge forms that can be printed from our Facebook page, so be sure to start collecting pledges early and get all your friends involved as well. All proceeds go to benefit the shelter animals.
We asked a dog to pull aside the shroud of secrecy and be interviewed. He asked that his name not be used, but for the good of all dogs he agreed to share these 10 insights with humans.
My life is likely to last 10 to 15 years. Any separation from you will be painful to me. Remember that before you adopt me.
Give me some time to understand what you want from me.
Place your trust in me. It’s crucial to my well-being.
Don’t be angry with me for long, and don’t isolate me as punishment. You have your work, your entertainment and your friends. I only have you.
Talk to me sometimes. Even if I don’t understand your words – I understand your voice.
Be aware that however you treat me; I will not be able to forget it.
Remember before you hit me that I have powerful teeth, but I choose not to use them.
Before you scold me for being uncooperative, obstinate or lazy, ask yourself if something might be wrong with me. Perhaps I’m not getting the right food or I’ve been out in the sun too long, or my heart is getting older and weaker.
Take care of me when I get old. You’ll be old one day.
Go with me on difficult journeys. Never say: “I can’t watch-it’s too painful. Everything is easier when you are with me.
And through it all: Remember that I love you.
