HOULTON, Maine — Several local residents gathered at the Visitor Information Center in Houlton on Wednesday, April 28, in order to hold a walk for autism awareness.
The event was put together by Living Innovations, a local organization that seeks to help and support people who have disabilities.
Though the organization usually attends awareness walks held in Bangor, restrictions this year due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic made members decide to organize something more local, according to Living Innovations’ adult coordinator Angelina Jackman.
The total in donations that were raised by the walk amounted to around $1,000. Many of those who took part in the walk were either family members of those with Autism Spectrum Disorder, or those with ASD themselves.
