LIMESTONE and NEW SWEDEN, Maine — Limestone and New Sweden will both hold their elections and town meetings in June, with elections happening before the annual town meetings.
Limestone’s election is set for June 8 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Limestone Community School gymnasium.
For a three-year term on the board of selectmen, Thomas J. Albert is on the ballot along with incumbents Paul C. Durepo II and Irma Labreck. Incumbent Grace O’Neal and Meagan Malena are running for two three-year terms on the school committee. And for the Limestone Water and Sewer District Board of Trustees, incumbent Charles Kelley is running unopposed.
The warrant for the town meeting should be ready in mid-May, according to the town office.
New Sweden’s town election is set for June 15 at the town office on 50 Station Road, and the annual town meeting is set for 6 p.m. on June 17, however the final location is currently pending.
Unless COVID-19 restrictions are loosened, New Sweden will hold its annual town meeting at Thomas Park, with the rain location being the town garage at 56 Station Road. If restrictions are loosened, then the town meeting will be held at the town office.
Running for a three-year term on New Sweden’s school committee is incumbent Melanie Lagasse. For selectmen, incumbent Stephen Boody is on the ballot with Donald Cote for a three-year term.
According to the town office, the warrant for the town meeting will be available by June 4 at the latest.
