To the editor:
They made it. Houlton schools (RSU 29) are to be commended for their due diligence during the COVID-19 school year.
The administration, teachers, ed techs, counselors, cafeteria workers, custodians, bus drivers and substitute teachers persevered through the school year and Houlton schools did not have one major virus outbreak.
We recognize the students for their cooperation in wearing masks, social distancing and hand washing. Their school calendar was interrupted, but they participated in as many school activities as were deemed safe.
We, in Houlton, should be proud of the efforts made by all concerned in our schools during this pandemic. Thank you, Houlton schools, for your cooperation. We are proud of you.
As this pandemic is not totally behind us just yet, we must still be cautious. But with efforts like these from our schools we are confident our community will come through.
Go Shires!
