LITTLETON, Maine — The Maine Fire Marshal’s Office is still investigating a fire that destroyed an historic covered bridge in Littleton and has upped the ante in gathering information.

On Friday, the Fire Marshal’s Office announced it was offering a $1,000 reward for any information that leads to an arrest or arrests in connection with the fire that destroyed the Watson Settlement Bridge on July 19.

Shannon Moss, public information officer for the Maine State Police, said that the money for the reward was donated by a local business.

“The covered bridge which is located on the Framingham Road and spans the Meduxnekeag River was built in 1911 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places,” Moss said. “The Fire Marshal’s Office continues to investigate.”

Anyone with any information on the fire is asked to call the State Fire Marshal’s Office at 1-888-870-6162.
