On Thursday, Sept. 2, the Easton Recreation Seniors group will depart from the West Ridge Manor parking lot at 9:15 a.m. on their way to visit the Acadian Village in VanBuren.
The first stop will be the Caribou Inn and Convention Center for brunch and then it’s on to the Village. Participants will be responsible for their own meal. The more the merrier, so invite a friend or two.
The Acadian Village is a museum of Acadian heritage which includes a complex of six historic buildings (five authentic 19th-century structures, one a careful modern reproduction) in which the life and work of 19th-century French-Americans is showcased. The site is on the National Register of Historic Places.

Track winners
Easton Recreation Department had a fantastic track season. New this year is another step progression beyond the Maine Recreation and Park’s state meet: the Maine-New Hampshire-Vermont Tri-State Meet.
In the future, state meet winners will be able to attend a live meet in one of the three states. Due to strict COVID-19 guidelines and tough logistical hurdles, this year’s “meet” was held virtually. All three states sent their state meet scores in, and all scores were compared to choose the winners for the Tri-State competition.
Congratulations to Maggie McGlinn for earning second place in the 9-10 girls long jump division, and to Raiden Cochran for placing first in the 13-14 boys softball competition.
