LIMESTONE, Maine — The Easton boys and girls soccer teams traveled to Limestone Wednesday, Sept. 8, for a matchup with the Maine School of Science and Mathematics.
The road trip proved to be friendly for the Bears as both Easton squads were victorious, with the boys winning 4-0 and the girls claiming a 6-2 victory.
In the boys contest, the Bears improved to 3-1 on the year thanks to Owen Sweeney’s three goals. All three of Sweeney’s goals came in the first half. Cody Nadeau also scored with 59 seconds left in the game.
Trey Brewer notched two assists, while Ben Whipperman and Dawson Lamoreau each had one. Keeper Zach Pelletier earned the shutout making seven saves.
For the Penguins (0-1), Raymond Li stopped four of five shots, while Connor Start had four saves on seven shots.
In the girls contest, Easton scored early and often. Grace Ellis, Jenna Cochran and Emma Lamoreau each had one goal and one assist. Maggie McQuade, Olivia Keep and Makenzie Kinney also had solo goals.
Maggie Currie made eight saves on 15 shots for Easton (3-4)
For MSSM (2-4), Shelby Carson and CJ Corey each had one goal. Mattie Luce and Saanvi Sadineni both had two assists.
Keepers Della Benica and Hadley Blodgett combined for 2 save on 8 shots.
