CARIBOU, Maine — Caribou Police Chief Michael Gahagan invites the community to help “Feed the County” during a food drive that will end Tuesday, Oct. 12.
The event is part of Faith & Blue Weekend, which takes place Friday, Oct. 8, to Monday, Oct. 11. The department is hosting the drive together with Dixie Shaw and Catholic Charities Maine.
“Anyone wishing to donate non-perishable food items can drop them off at the Caribou Police Department anytime between now and Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2021,” Gahagan said “Items requested include canned soup, cereal, canned vegetables, canned fruit, pasta, and any other non-perishable food item.”
Officers will deliver the donated items to Shaw at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 13.
The weekend celebrates faith-based organizations’ support of law enforcement. “National Faith & Blue Weekend is based on the premise that strong communities are built on mutual respect and understanding,” according to faithandblue.org. “Law enforcement and faith institutions are key pillars of each community, and when they work together, neighborhoods thrive.”
“We sincerely appreciate the support of the Caribou community and our citizens during these trying times. We hope you can join us to help Feed the County,” Gahagan said.
