VASSALBORO, Maine — Golfers from Houlton, Fort Fairfield, Fort Kent and Madawaska journeyed to the Natanis Golf Course Saturday for the State Class C golf team and individual championships.
The Houlton Shire golf team placed fifth in the event, while Fort Fairfield was 11th. Fort Kent and Madawaska did not qualify for the team competition, but did have three individuals participate.
Kents Hill won the team competition with a score of 332. Other team scores were: 2, St. Doms, 335; 3, Waynflete, 336; 4, Maranacook, 344; 5, Houlton, 356; 6, Dexter, 359; 7, Orono, 366; 8, Spruce Mountain, 373; 9,.Monmouth, 384; 10, Mattanawcook, 413; and 11, Fort Fairfield, 435.
In the individual girls championship, Clarice Bell of Orono was the top golfer, shooting a 90 on the day. Rounding out the top 10 girls were: 2, Catilyn Chabot, Dexter, 93; 3 (tie) Averi Beaudoin, Monmouth, and Leah Deschaine, MCI, both 97; 5, Maddy Prokopius, NYA, 102; 6, Madalyn Quirk, Houlton, 103; 7, Reece Beaudoin, Monmouth, 107; 8, Mia Luce, Monmouth, 109; 9, Alyssa Nightingale, Houlton, 112; and 10, Abby Theriault, Mattanawcook, 124.
Houlton’s Abby Fitzpatrick finished 12th in the girls competition with a 136.
The top 10 golfers in the boys individual competition were: 1, George Fahey, Waynflete, 73; 2, Nico Van Gaudecker, Kents Hill, 74; 3, Wyatt Folsom, Maranacook, 75; 4, Wyatt Smith, Dirigo, 76; 5 (tie), Collin Moody, Houlton and Michael Bruce, Fort Fairfield, both 77; 7, Nick Ferrance, St. Doms, 78; and 8 (tie) Chase Farnsworth, Dexter, Matt Fenlason, Spruce Mountain, Garrett Kendall, St. Doms, and Trevor Dolbier, Rangeley, all at 81.
Fort Kent golfer Kaden Theriault tied for 12th place with an 83. Madawaska golfer Cameron Derosier was tied for 19th with an 85, while Owl teammate Sam Dufrense was tied for 32nd with a 92.
Houlton’s Garrett Harvey and Kollin Irish tied for 25th with an 88.
Fort Fairfield’s Chase Coiley tied for 32nd with a 92, while teammate Brett Senal was 57th with a 116 and Blake Senal was 63rd with a 150.
