When one is familiar with the Central Aroostook Humane Society, the name Sharon Brown comes to mind.
Also known as the “Cat Lady,” Sharon has taken care of the cats and kittens for 23-plus years, along with many other shelter chores. After so many years, Sharon has decided it is time to retire and start checking off some of the many items on her “to do” list.
Sharon’s passion for years (beside felines) has been buying and selling anything from collectibles to antiques and everything in between. You may have seen her at the many Trash and Treasure Sales at The Forum, where she would, hands down, have the biggest and most impressive display of any of the many vendors.
Sharon is also a caregiver to a family member and her energy and dedication is truly amazing, making sure everyone is well taken care of.
Sharon has been the midwife to all of the mothers who have had kittens born at the shelter or have been brought in as strays. We thought it would be only fitting that our Mother Cat Room be named “In Honor of Sharon Brown.”
Over so many years, Sharon has tended the thousands of cats like her children, making sure that each one is healthy, eating well, socialized, updated on shots, and ready to go to their forever homes. How fortunate we have been at the Central Aroostook Humane Society to have had such a wonderful and caring individual.
Sharon has agreed to drop by once a week for a while, to tend to the new arrivals and make sure they are well on their way to being happy and healthy for adoption.
We wish her well on this new chapter in her life. She will greatly be missed. On behalf of all the employees and board of directors, we thank Sharon for all her 23-plus years of dedicated service.
