Every now and then you meet a cat that makes a lasting impression on your heart. This was the case a few weeks ago with a handsome cat named Max.
Max had been living outside at a kind ladies house for the last six months. She fed him and let him take shelter in her barn. With the cold weather fast approaching she knew she had to get him someplace safe for the winter months. We agreed to take him and get him neutered and get him the vet care that he needed.
The day he arrived, Max walked out of the carrier like he owned the place. He was huge with giant paws, he was all muscle. He had some battle scars but that was to be expected. His ears were torn up from mites and he had scabs on his body in quite a few places, he also had a pretty bad wound on his front leg. You could tell that he was a survivor and life had not been easy for him.
That same day, one of our biggest cheerleaders was at the sanctuary dropping off a donation. She was there when Max arrived. She was fascinated by Max and played with him for a while and then left. As we were getting Max settled she called and said she would love to give Max a home. She had discussed it with her husband and they were in agreement that Max needed them. That same day Max went to his new home. They agreed to take over all his medical care and had gotten him scheduled at the vet to get neutered and to take care of all his health issues.
Max’s life changed for the better that day. He has the best of everything but is not sure what toys are and doesn’t know how to play with them. In time he will learn what all these things are and that he is living a pampered life now with humans who love him. This was certainly a happy ending.
