HOULTON, Maine — A Houlton man has been sentenced to one year in prison and three years of supervised release for a conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine.
Hayden Fogg, 35, was sentenced by U.S. Federal Judge Lance Walker after Fogg pleaded guilty on June 28. Fogg was part of a drug distribution operation that obtained the drugs from Florida and transported them to Maine, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Maine. Fogg distributed the drugs around Houlton, while other co-conspirators sold them in the Bangor and Howland areas.
Fogg’s sentencing comes after several convictions in another drug conspiracy in Aroostook County, where dealers had obtained meth from suppliers in the American Southwest and Mexico.
The number of drug convictions over the past several years signals an increase in drug-related activity in The County. Houlton police have also reported seizing more cash in drug-related arrests, showing that a large quantity of hard drugs have already been sold on the streets.
“The community of Houlton and the surrounding area have seen a troubling increase in methamphetamine use, which law enforcement officials are taking seriously,” said U.S. Attorney Darcie McElwee following Fogg’s sentencing. “If you, or someone you love, is struggling with such an addiction, please visit www.powerofprevention.org for the Aroostook County Substance Abuse Directory.”
